Plain Cake Recipe

Nguji ngaga Plain Cake lemai tu.

Resipi ia:
Ingredients: Makes one 23 cm / 9 in cake
50 g/2 oz butter or margarine
225 g/8 oz/2 cups plain (all-purpose) flour
2.5 ml/0.5 tsp salt
15 ml/1 tbsp baking powder
30 ml/2 tbsp caster (superfine) sugar

250 ml/8 fl oz milk
Method:
Rub the butter or margarine into the flour, salt and baking powder until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar. Gradually add the milk and mix to a smooth dough. Press gently into a greased 23 cm/9 in cake tin (pan) and bake in a preheated oven at 160°C/325°F/ gas mark 3 for about 30 minutes until light golden brown.

Menu Malam 10 Okt 2009

Malam tu menu kami menyanak kononnya manok masak kukus ala Kanton.

Barang ka dikena:
  • 1 1/2 pounds assorted chicken pieces, bone-in
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce (4 1/2 teaspoons)
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 slices ginger, shredded (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 green onion (spring onion, scallion), dice
Cara nyedia ka (improvise version):

Manok dibuai tulang ia ( tulang tadi dikumpuk ngaga stok tauka sup manok) lalu digerami enggau bala garam, lada, kicap, arak Cina, gula, minyak bijan enggau tepung jagung. Lak ka dulu manok ka digerami setengah jam.

Laban ka ngena pengukus elektrik, engkah ka berau ka disumai ba tinkgkat baruh lalu atas ia letak manok ka udah digerami. Make sure bisi ruang endor stim lalu tauka belingkar. Atass manok tadi engkah halia ka udah dihiris halus enggau daun bawang. Kukus dalam 30 min (max) - 15 min (min.).

Nyedia ka sup manok laban ka enda chukup perengka just bubuh ai, tulang manok, bawang merah besai (dipotong 1/4), halia mimit sertai bawang putih. Tambah lada hitam mimit. Nyau cukup gaya ia tabak ka garam enggau bicing mimit. Tos dulu bala tulang enggau bawang udahnya stok ka udah ditos disumai baru baru ka ngeletak sawi ijau (2 min) chukup angkat.

Potong mimit buah rampu letak serta susun ba pinggai. Baru ngeletak manok kukus ka udah mansau.

Kada agi angat sama ngap meh bala.

Bread Pudding Recipe

It quite sometime for me to not update this blog. Well..I did cook some dishes but i haven't got the time to snap some picture cause by the time the meal is ready, we all are too hungry to take a picture. He..he..

Anyway today I gonna post a recipe for my future references although yeah...I know...we got OneNote but what the hack! At least there something to share with every body.

Here is the recipe of Bread Pudding:

INGREDIENTS:

8 pieces of white bread (shredded)
500ml evaporated milk
2 tablespoons raisins
2 eggs
1 tablespoon corn flour
1 teaspoons vanilla essence
4 tablespoons butter (melted)
8 tablespoons sugar


How to make it:

Preheat the oven at 180C.
In a container, soak the bread with the milk. Leave for 30 minutes.
Mix the eggs, corn flour, vanilla essence, butter and sugar well. Then add the bread and milk in. Mix well with a spoon.
Grease a 20 cm mold with butter. Add the pudding mixture in.
Bake for 30 minutes of golden brown. Top with cinnamon powder and vanilla sugar (optional).

MENU FOR DINNER

Well yesterday menu for our dinner are Herring Fish

and Buttermilk Squash.

For Herring fish I simply grill it in grill pan.

These are the ingredients that I used to marinate the fish:
I forgot to put Rosemary in this photo.

And final product will be:
As for Buttermilk Squash, I just cooked it like I use to cooked for Malaysia local pumpkin. Fried a bit of garlic and suppose to be anchovies. Accept I don't have appropriate ingredient to cook it such as anchovies so I substitute it with mince meat. Add a five spice powder and a bit of chicken stock cube for seasoning since it hard to find Ajinomoto (MSG). So final result of the cooking is:
I guess it worth it to buy a fish once in a while...

Resipi Crispy Chicken Thighs

Cara ngaga ia:

Delicious and gluten-free chicken and crispy potato wedges, roasted with paprika and lemon

Recipe by Mary Cadogan
Serves 4

Preperation and cooking times

Prep 15 mins
Cook 40 mins

Method

  1. Heat oven to 220C/fan 200/gas 7. Wipe the chicken thighs with kitchen paper. Finely grate the zest from 1 lemon and squeeze the juice from both. Mix in a shallow dish with the tarragon, 1 tbsp of the oil, and some salt and pepper. Slash the skin of each chicken thigh three times, then turn in the marinade. The chicken pieces can be cooked immediately or left in the fridge for up to a day.
  2. Cut the potatoes into wedges and spread over a roasting tin. Toss in the remaining oil and sprinkle with paprika. Set a rack on top and arrange the chicken pieces on the rack. Bake for 30-40 mins, until the chicken is well browned and the potatoes tender. Serve with a simple green salad.
MAKE IT DIFFERENT

Other herbs, such as thyme or marjoram, can be used instead of tarragon. And you can add some whole, unpeeled cloves of garlic, or trimmed spring onions to the dish of potatoes.

Breastfeeding......

Lama amai aku berunding pasal nyusu ka anak sebedau aku ngambi cuti panjai. Enti nunda ka orang breastfeeding ka anak manah. Enda ga bula pemanah nusu ka anak ari tubuh. Jimat mimit lalu enda ibuh meli tepung susu agi, malam pan enda ibuh ngangkat ka diri ngaga tepung susu temu tumpil ba tusu aja.

Maya aku kerja suba, anak bunsu aku baru belumor 3 bulan. Lalu susu tubuh mina aku perah maya kerja ba opis serta beku ka. Bisi ditusu ka ia ba rumah maya aku kerja tang nya tadi maya nyau ka cuti sekula, anak aku mula meragam enggai nyusu ngena botol agi. Nyabak belama ka minta susu ba tubuh, nyadi ama ka nyaga ia pan turut sinu meda ia ka nyabak aja. Aku pening pala nadai nemu chara ka ngadu ka ia, taja tusu ka tusu ia ba botolnya tusu ka diperah aku. Enggai meh ia ka nyusu. Aku pan mayanya benong sibuk ka nyingkap semua pengawa aku ba sekula sebedau aku cuti nangi ka dudi ila orang ba opis ngiga aku maya cuti laban ka enda tegiga ka utai. Seminggu-minggu aku nyiap semua utai ba sekula..kerja ka terbengkalai laban ka ngintunembiak peresa, stok ICT, laporan fizik ka panitia sains etc...tusah amai ati ngingat ka anak dirumah nyabak belama enggai nusu ngena tusu botol. Tat ka ati nyiap ka kerja awak ka olih ngintu anak ba rumah. Bedau chukup nya nyau ga ngintu Visa enggau Passport di bai apai ia. Berunding ka terbai pulai ka menoa dulu sebedau mupok mansang ka UK. Maioh macham utai ka dirunding...ni nyual bala perengka ba rumah baka TV, Mesin basuh, peti ais, dapur, kereta enggau mayoh macham utai. Ni ka barang dibuai agi. Sayau enti betati ka barang dibuai. Buku-buku aku abis aku jual tang nya tadi jual ngagai Cina ka ngumpul surat khabar. Nadai utai olih tang nya tadi ati nadai kelalu tusah enti dijual bebanding dibuai.

Pulai ka anak aku ka breastfeeding, nyentuk ka diatu agi meh breastfeeding. Aku cuba ka merenti ia nusu ari tubuh meda ia nyau mansang besai lalu mega enti ia kelalu geram diketup ia puting susu. Dia jar kitai anang agi meh digaga ia. Maya tu gigi ia benong tajam amai. Diajar ngirup ai ngena beaker bakanya meh..ngirup mimit-mimit udahnya dituang ia ai dalam beaker. Aku pening pala. Kati meh ka merenti ia ka nusu ari tubuh? Maioh macham chara tauka mulut tusu botol diuji aku bakanya meh, nyingkap baju kitai ngiga tusu. Nadai nemu cara agi aku. Enti orang nemu cara manah meh madah ka aku. Bisi suba kaling cikgu aku nusi, chal ka tomato sos ba puting susu sebedau meri ia awak ka badu ko ia. Cara tu aja empai ka diuji. Ila nguji ia nganti ia genap 2 tahun masuk bulan lapan tu.

Baklava Squares


  • Put 250 g sugar in a pan with 250 ml water and the thinly pared est of half an unwaxed lemon and stir over heat until the sugar has dissolved.  Bring to the boil and simmer for 12 minutes.  Stir in 4 tbsp clear honey, then leave to cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 160 C / 140 C Fan/Gas 3. Melt 50 g unsalted butter and use a little to grease a shallow rectangular tin about 20 cm x 22 cm.
  • Put six sheets of filo pastry on a plate and cover with a damp cloth/tea towel.  Brush one sheet with melted butter and lay in the tin, folding and cutting to fit.  Butter another two sheets of pastry and lay on top - need to end up with an even layer of pastry.
  • Chop 200 g blanched almonds and 100 g pistachios and scatter evenly on top. Drizzle on 3 tbsp of the syrup.
  • Brush three more sheets of pastry with butter and lay them on top. Cut through the top three layrs of pastry to mark it into 20 squares.
  • Bake for 30 minutes then increase the oven temperature to 200 C/180 C fan/gas 6 and bake for a further 5 - 10 minutes. Drizzle over the remaining syrup and leave to cool. Cut into squares to serve.
